Equally passionate and fulfilled in various musical fields, Chinese-American Soprano Veronica Mak aims to reach out to audiences in multiple outlets. She began her musical studies at the age of six on piano and voice at the age of twelve. Veronica has a breadth of experience, making her a fitting teacher for children or adults, at any level.
During her spare time, Ms. Mak performs at local senior homes to give back to the community. She has worked with staff through The Atria, The YM & YWHA, and Connect2Culture, a non-profit arts organization that provides services to patients living with dementia and their caregivers.
Throughout her collegiate studies, Ms. Mak has performed in renowned venues for opera and choir: Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, David Geffen Hall, St. John Cathedral of Divine, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and National Sawdust. As a concert soloist, Ms. Mak has performed Brahms’ Deutsches Requiem and Mozart Requiem in D minor. She has performed the following operas; Gianni Schicchi (Lauretta), L’enfant et les sortilèges (L’enfant), Die Zaubeflöte (Papagena), Orfeo ed Euridice (Chorus), Die Entführing aus dem Serail (Chorus) and Albert Herring (Nancy) with the Manhattan School of Music. Her operatic scene credits include Idomeneo (Ilia), Le Nozze di Figaro (Susanna), Street Scene (Rose Maurrant), and L’incoronazione di Poppea (Damigella). She has also participated in various choral ensembles under the directions of Kent Tritle and Ronnie Oliver Jr. She participated in world premieres of choral works of John Luther Adams’ In The Name of the Earth in 2018 and Ola Gjielo’s To The East and To The West in 2014.
Ms. Mak received her Master & Bachelor of Music studies at Manhattan School of Music for Classical Voice/Opera.
